Kimchi Buchimgae

Kimchi Buchimgae (Kimchi Pancakes)

Kimchi buchimgae is a variety of Korean pancake-like dish, primarily made with sliced kimchi, flour batter and sometimes other vegetables. However, meat (ground pork) is also often added. The dish is often recognized in Korean culture as a folk dish of low profile that anyone could make easily at home with no extra budget.

It is usually served as an appetizer, snack or banchan (side dish).

Ingredients for 5 serving

Buchimkaru(Korean pancake mix) 500g, Water 850ml, Kimchi 1-2cup (depending upon how spicy and crunchy you like)

* There are many additional options up to your appetites – tuna can / ground pork / squid / chilly / zucchini…etc.

Cooking

  1. Mix Buchimkaru and cool water into a big bowl.
  2. Add chopped Kimchi and Kimchi liquid into the bowl. Mix well together.
  3. Heat a pan and coat with a thin layer of oil.
  4. Pour the buchimkaru mix to fill the pan in a thin layer and cook for 3-4 minutes until it turns to golden brown color on the bottom
  5. Turn it over and cook the other side for 1-2 mimutes, adding more oil if necessary.
  6. Serve with soy sauce.
