Free Muay Thai lesson in Bangkok.

After I posted a free Muay Thai match that you could easily come to watch it for free at MBK. center. If you want to continue a little bit further. You could go to learn about it as a beginner , not far from MBK. I have a place that only few tourists know that you could go and practice it for free! And it’s in the middle heart of the city!!!

1

You could go there easily. Firstly , you have to get off at National stadium. The exit that linked to MBK.

2

Then go through the way as the first red arrow and walk straight through as the second red arrow. Just keep walking straight about ten to fifteen minutes. Then you would see this big building.

3

When you see this building , turn left and walk until you could find the gate number 17. The free Muay Thai lesson is at that room and it is connected to “Muay Thai museum”. You have to apply at the museum which open from 8.30-16.30. But the class would start from 18.00-19.30 Monday to Friday.

4

I did study free Muay Thai here before I went to Australia about five years ago. I think it is good for tourist who are not sure whether they like it or not. And you have to pay only for the shirt and pant which is cost 450 Baht($15). Then you could come here for lesson anytime during 18.00-19.30 Monday to Friday or you could just come to practice here by yourself as well.

If you are really serious about Muay Thai. You could find other place which has better trainers. This place is just for a beginner. You would see in the below clip that there are only women , kids and elder who learn the basic here. So it is very easy!

Free Muay Thai match in Bangkok.

It’s frantic! It’s fun! AND IT IS FREE!!!

When you come to Thailand. After you relax yourself among nice beautiful beaches , enjoy comparatively cheap delicious foods in nice restaurants , and visit lot and lot of temples.

Another popular thing that you could do in Bangkok is to watch Muay Thai match (Muay Thai Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Thai boxing, Thai kickboxing ).

2

Most of you might know about Kick boxing. But it is quite different from Muay Thai which Muay Thai could use elbow and knee in the combat. It is a lot more dangerous. It’s always ended up with blood spread on the floor.

1

If you ask some local “Where should I watch Muay Thai match”? They would tell you to go to Ratchadumneun or Lumpini(Now this state was moved) stadiums. As Thai people think that all of tourists are rich.

But I guess some of you , even you are rich. You might not want to spend $50 for a fighting match that you are not sure whether you want to see it or not. So this post is for you!

3

If you just want to experience Muay Thai match. There is a free Muay Thai match at MBK. , the big shopping mall , in the heart of Bangkok city. You could go to MBK. by a sky train(BTS.) It’s the last station called “National stadium” on Bangwa line.

The match organizes every Wednesday from 6pm to around 8 pm. But it is an open air stage. So if it is rain or in a rainy season. There might not be the match.

4

Even the fighters are not very popular. But it is still worth to come and see. There are only few Thai boxers. Most of the fighters are foreigners who learn Muay Thai. So you might see a boxer from your country here!

5

There are a girl fights as well. So you could watch Muay Thai martial art from both genders. If you are really interesting. You could decide it later to watch a real match at Lumpini or Ratchadumneun stadium.

Read if you want to learn a free Muay Thai!!!

Here is the best Muay Thai fighte’s clip! His name is Buawkaw! See it and you would know how dangerous Muay Thai is.

Sue's kitchen

I did my first Padthai in New Zealand.

I love Pad Thai , that was what Sue told me. Sue was my host in Raglan where it was a scene in the movie “Endless summer”, a surfer paradise. But I didn’t have any plan to go on the surfboard at that time. I just need somewhere near Auckland to escape the crazy Rugby World Cup 2011 event that caused full booked accommodations in New Zealand’s capital city.

The reason Sue accepted me to be her helper was that she was injured by playing a netball. She wanted someone to help her doing housework , especially cooking. Well I would more than happy to be a cook in the house of Sue , a nurse who have to take care herself during her injury.

On the right is Sue and Keith’s house

I have done some stir fried and curry dishes many times , that was as easy as pie. But for the menu that my host loves it. I have not done it before. And it is the hardest one due to many ingredients included in this menu.

Like old saying , there has to be a first step in every steps. So as my first Pad Thai , it just I had not expected that I would make it a first time in New Zealand.

Fortunately I had a good consultant , Sister Mam. Sue knew her shop Thai Market in Halmilton , the closed by city. I went to her shop to buy most of ingredients with a free advice of cooking Pad Thai.

Unfortunately I filmed most of the time I cook Padthai. It was for my TV.project that was failed. I even have not got a picture of my first Padthai as I was so busy making Padthai and talking with camera , I did all by myself!

Anyway I plan to show you the VDO of how to make it with subtitle. SEE VDO (Soon)

And I will make all of my dish with my cooking 101 of everything. Sorry that I have not shown you the detail right now as I make this website mostly by my own at the moment. It needs some time and some assistant to help me make it more perfect. So stay tune with our website! Please….. ^__^

How to begin with host network?

10,000 miles journey begins with the first step.

if you are fear to begin with the host networks. Trust me! You are not alone! Well I have to confess that I was afraid to use host network to travel. I have heard about it from a couple who were waiting in the same queue as me when I was applying for a working holiday visa to Australia.

After a while I applied it and got accepted from the host in Byron bay , Australia. But the fear of uncertainty kept me away from her. I changed my plan and canceled that trip to stay in my comfort zone , working and saving money. Then I could travel when I have enough money.

1
This is Halmilton island airport. Where I first begun my journey by host networks.

My really first journey of host network begun after I finished my 6 months full time job(As a condition of working holiday visa). That time I really want to travel. I save some money but I found out that my saving would be gone in less a month even if I travel cheaply. Don’t forget that Australia is a super expensive country to travel.

That was when my idea of traveling by host network was came out again. Let’s get back and see what should you do if you are new and want to travel in this style!

Read : what is host network!

Step by step for beginner.

Step 1 : You have to apply and be focused.

Yeahhh well you might say I am not an idiot. I know that I have to apply before using it. But do you know what? There are many host networks right now. And you might look through without doing anything.

So I recommend you to be focused on networks you like. Then take time with them. For me , I focus on two network which are…..

-         Couch Surfing ( www.couchsurfing.org ) This one is free and good for beginner.

-         Helpx (www.helpx.net) You have to pay around $70 to have a two years of membership of this network.

Step 2 : Create your profile.

2

Your profile is the first impression. From my experience if you organize your profile structure well , with good details and pictures. Hosts would recognize that you are a reliable person. As most of popular hosts get hundreds of request every day. You have to be outstanding in case you want to stay with a nice host.

Ps. It’s like you create your profile on your facebook. It’s not hard but you have to understand that each network is different ie. , Couch surfing network is more informal than helpx and have no requirement of any working skill.

Step 3 : Choose host carefully!

3

It could be your best or the worst lifetime experience by staying with a stranger whom you have never met him/her before. Again you could get your host’s information only by his/her profile. That is why profile is very important to both parties.

After I have got some good reviews. I would choose only the 4 stars up hosts. They have a lot of reviews from helper or csers. Reviews could tell you a lot about your hosts. But if your host has all good comments except one or two bad comment. You should read on the person who gave a bad comment’s profile. Then you could decide whether he/she is right or wrong.

If you only use couch surfing. You don’t have to let anyone to stay with you. You could attend the meeting or you could be your Cser’s tour guide.

My first experience with my host was awesome. It brought me to this point , to do what I love and to spread out this kind of lovely traveling style.

Step 4 :        Try Try Try….

IMG_3958

There is a will there is a way! Keep it in your mind

It might be hard when you have just started to use host networks. You are new and have no reference. Try to read each host’s profile that you are interested in carefully. Answer the question! What does he/she want? The hints is in his/her profile.

Then think about what do you have. If you love to cook. Tell them that you could cook for them. It would be an advantage if you have some useful skills than you are just a nice person who love to travel!

When I first started , I did all above and I send many emails to many hosts. After I got about three references. It was so much easier to be accepted!

Noted : Helpx network needs your skills more than Couch Surfing. Some Couch surfing hosts accepts you only because your profile’s pictures. Some hosts just accept anybody because they really want to help but it is rare. And in couch surfing network , you could get reference by meeting people in network.

Step 5 : Early prepare!

I learned from being a host and being hosted that both parties love to get contact earlier. The best notice period could be about a week ahead. So they could organize their schedule. I talked to some friends who were host and we have the same experience that some Csers just change his/her mind in the last minutes. That was the most frustrated situation. Some of serious hosts would give them a bad comment.

If you contact your host less than a week before you arrive. It might be OK. But it is more professional for them to see that you prepare yourself ahead. It is more possible that people who prepare them self would not cancel the an accepted request in the last minute!

But be careful if you plan too long ahead. Some host might forget your request as well. So the next step is……

Step 6 :         Confirmation

I always confirm my schedule to my host to avoid the mistake that could cause a waste of time and frustration. If I plan to have a trip with helpx network. I would contact hosts at least about a month. Then after they accept me I would confirm them that I would arrive and stay with them at least a week before I arrive.

I think it is an art and take time to get used to it. But if you learn for a while. You would find that there are many awesome hosts waiting for you to have a good time with them.

Step 7 : Give a notice ahead

Accident could happen with both parties!

I did cancel my host who accepted me. And I was canceled by Csers who I accepted them to show them around. It would be a OK. situation if you have a good reason to cancel. And it would be much better if you give noticed to your host at least three days in advanced.

The worst case is that you would not show up. Most of hosts would defiantly write a bad comment for someone who do that. And it might end your journey by that network.

Good luck on your new road. I wish you all would have new awesome experience like I did and some lesson to learn experience that I got from host networks as well! All the best!

Swimming with dolphins in New Zealand.

I met my dream girl in Magnetic island. She was a beautiful 19 yo. German with 179 cm. tall who came with a group of friends to explore Australia during her gap year. She told me that one of her dream is to swim with dolphins in New Zealand!

Really? I hadn’t known before that we could swim with dolphins.

Actually she told me that we could even play with them. Well I guessed so , I knew that dolphin is a very smart animal. Maybe they even smarter than some people.

When I was in New Zealand. It was after I had heard a story of swimming with dolphins about two years. I thought I had to try my dream girl’s dream. Here is what I had got from that experience.

1

The Best place to swim with Dolphins in New Zealand.

Actually there are two popular spots in New Zealand that you could swim with dolphins. The first one , which I did a tour to swim with dolphins was in Paihia in “the Bay of island” area , is in the North island. The second one , which I did a day tour but not to swim with dolphin , is in Akaroa near Christchurch in the South island.

To swim with dolphins in Paihia.

2
I stayed in a tent at a campsite in Paihia near Waitangi. It was a cheap nice place to stay.

You might be told that The South island is more beautiful than The North island. Yes , I agree with that. But if you are interested in history. Waitangi in the Bay of island area is the most important place that had changed New Zealand history forever.

It was in Waitangi where Maori chiefs signed the treaty of Waitangi to let England manage this country. You could go to visit Watangi museum for more information. You could stay in Paihia for more accommodation’s choices. It is just about 15 minutes walk to Waitangi. And you could do a day tour from Paihai.

4

I did a day tour to swim with dolphins with GreatSight. It was quite nice. They brought you around to visit a place called “Hole in the Rock” and around.

"Hole in the rock"
“Hole in the rock”

We found groups of dolphins three times. But there was no guarantee that you could swim with them. It depends on what is their mood and if they have a little cup. It was a rule that you could not bother them.

I found out that dolphins is a very smart animal. As the first time when we jumped into the water and tried to play with them. They just ran away. The guide told us that we had to entertain them , not that they had to entertain us.

6

So the second chance as you could see in my video. We tried what the tourist guide told us exactly-entertain the dolphins. Then we were succeed to get their attention. After that they played with us. Be gentle! Make some noise! But do not touch them! I saw one white hand that tried to grab the dolphin. That was why dolphins left us early. Please don’t do it!

To swim with dolphins in Akaroa.

7

Akaroa is another nice place in the South island that you could swim with dolphins. This small town almost was a French colony and New Zealand was almost be managed by France-Blame the French captain that he didn’t success to do it!

8

If you decide to swim with dolphins in Akaroa. You would have a chance to swim with Hector’s dolphin , the smallest dolphin in the world. I did swim with dolphin in Paihia before. So I just had a cruise with Black Cat Cruise to see things around. It was nice as well.

Check out : www.blackcat.co.nz

Noted : I have just found out about a year ago that my hometown has some pink dolphins. Not sure whether you could swim with them or not. My hometown is Nakhon Si Thammarat in Thailand. If I go to that place. I will write about it with full detail. ^__^
